The University of Jordan (UJ) President Prof. Azmi Mahafzah received in his office on Sunday, September 17, the Jordan Resident Director of the National Diplomatic Institute (NDI) Ariant “Niti” Shehu.

The two sides discussed further cooperation in joint programs aimed at positively impacting students and enabling young people in the Jordanian universities to play an active role in the political and decision-making process in Jordan.

The meeting also tackled NDI's future plan and vision to expand topics covered in its programs, to include the topic of young people's role in combating extremism and terrorism.

Currently, NDI runs two major programs in partnership with 25 universities including UJ. The two programs, 'Ana Usharek' and 'Usharek +' , are implemented in cooperation with the deanship of student affairs, where groups of 15 to 20 students set together once every two weeks for a period of one semester to discuss global standards of democracy and citizenship through interactive lessons designed to motivate young people to play an active role in policy and decision-making in Jordan.
