UJ Plans to Establish Chair for Indian Studies

The University of Jordan's (UJ) Faculty of Foreign Languages in collaboration with the Indian Embassy plans to establish a chair for Indian studies at the Asian Languages Department and an elective course in Hindi.
 
Prof. Mahmoud Al-Shara'ah, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, recently conducted an official to India as part of the Academic Visitor Program 2017/2018 of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

The visit aimed at building bridges of academic and cultural cooperation between UJ and Indian Universities. Prof. Al-Shara'ah visited Jawaharlal Nehru University, University of Delhi, Melia Islamic University, University of Bangalore, and University of Memphis.

The visit included meetings with deans, directors, and heads of colleges, centers and academic departments that teach languages such as English, linguistics and Sanskrit.
During his visits, Al-Shara'ah also presented a number of lectures addressing a number of issues including higher education in Jordan, and UJ's experience in teaching foreign languages.
