UJ, UT to Cooperate in Pilot Projects

The University of Jordan (UJ) Vice President for Scientific Schools Professor Kifah Jamani and the Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (UJIEC) Dr. Ashraf Bani Mohammed met with an American delegation from the University of Texas at Austen.
 
The delegation is visiting UJIEC as part of joint efforts to cooperate in establishing a green fund to support pilot projects that promote sustainability on UJ campus, as well as the implementation of activities aimed at raising awareness and knowledge of the role of innovation and technology.

The delegation comprised academics and students from the university headed by Dr. David Eaton, professor of Natural Resource Policy Studies at the University of Texas at Austen.
Prospects for academic cooperation between UJ and UT in other fields, such as Arabic language, Islamic studies and law, were also brought up during the meeting.

Professor Jamani emphasized during the meeting UJ's keenness to develop a productive cooperation with UT that supports scientific research, capacity-building and other fields of mutual benefit.

Bani Mohammed said that cooperation with UT would lead to active partnerships that would serve UJ community and help develop and support innovative ideas in the area of environmental sustainability.

In turn, Eaton said that UT wants to build a strategic partnership with UJ. He also revealed that the university has the largest Arabic department in the US, and has nearly 5000 international students from 152 countries around the world.
The visit also included the Water, Energy and Environment Canter, School of Engineering, Hamdi Mango Center for Academic Research, and School of Agriculture.

The meeting was attended by the Director of International Affairs Unit Dr. Hadeel Yaseen, and the Director of Water, Energy and Environment Center Dr. Khaldoun Shatanawi.
