With the participation of 200 Researchers from 28 states
IEEE Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies kicks off

Held under the patronage the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and With the participation of 200 Researchers from 28 states, the events of the 2nd round of the 2013 IEEE Jordanian Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies kicked off yesterday at the University of Jordan (UJ).

 

The AEECT2013 is organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)/ Jordan, in collaboration with the University of Jordan.

 

The conference is considered a unique forum to discuss latest scientific methods and applications of modern technologies in the field of electrical engineering and computing technologies as one of the scientific research priorities on the national and international levels.

 

"The conference is a golden opportunity for researchers and experts to discuss the latest scientific studies on electrical engineering and computing technologies to come out with results and recommendations that would place the Kingdome in advanced levels with regards to engineering and communications sectors," Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Amin Mahmoud said during the opening ceremony.

 

The Minister urged higher education institutions to focus on the applied side of knowledge to improve learning outcomes, noting that the academic track comprises 88% of the teaching process.

 

Mahmoud also valued UJ’s role in creating the appropriate environment for scientific conferences aimed at promoting the practical side of science.

 

Stressing the importance of this conference, UJ Acting President, Prof. Azmi Mahafzah said “The University of Jordan has been working to promote scientific research, in quantity and quality, and support conferences and scientific projects by increasing their shares of the university budget and by enhancing the research capacity of faculty members, to improve the University position to join the world's top 500 universities by 2018”.

 

Dr. Issam Zaabalawi, Director of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in Jordan, said "The 3-day conference sessions is discussing 64 scientific papers tackling a number of topics related to wireless spectrum and optical communications, the control of autonomous robots and vehicles, cloud computing, building information economy through Semiconductor Research, in addition to the application of biomedical engineering in the Optogenetics of vital organs.”

 

Zaabalawi called faculty members, researchers and practicing engineers and postgraduate students to take advantage of this opportunity to publicize their research and discuss challenges facing them.

 

It is noteworthy that the conference is supported by the Scientific Research Support Fund and Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Philadelphia and Petra universities, Jordan Engineers Association, Royal Geographic Center, UN Women, Jordan Phosphate Mines Company and Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC).
