President of the University of Jordan (UJ), Prof. Ekhleif Tarawneh received in his office on Tuesday the President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), Prof. Roberto Boisson.

 

President Tarawneh explored with the guest ways to expand bilateral cooperation.

 

The two sides discussed the possibility for strengthening cooperation in the various fields of communications, electronics and computer science, in addition to providing educational opportunities to engineering students and supporting scientific research, and holding joint projects and scientific conferences.

 

According to Tarawneh, UJ seeks to develop cooperation with universities and scientific institutions as part of its strategy to become a world university and by holding productive partnerships and develop a culture of leadership and innovation.

 

Tarawneh expressed UJ’s keenness to provide all forms of support for the IEEE’s branch to develop students' skills, abilities and knowledge in order to arrive at the desired educational outcomes.

 

From his part, IEEE’s president stressed the importance of consolidating partnership with the university and supporting its students and faculty by providing training and supporting the establishment of joint scientific programs.

 

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ali Al Mousa, member of the Executive Committee for Europe, Middle East and Africa in the Institute, and all of Dr. Mohamed Kamel Abdel Aziz, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Jordan branch and Dr. Ghaith Abandah, Vice-President of the Executive Committee.

 

It noteworthy that the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) is a global non-profit organization dedicated for the development and promotion of technology related to electrical and computer sciences, engineering, and related disciplines.

 

The IEEE is headquartered in the United States and has more than 425 thousand members in over 160 countries around the world.
