UJ Continues to Advance on UI GreenMetric Ranking

UJ continues to progress on the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking.

According to the newly released 2016 edition of the Ranking, UJ ranked 80th internationally, and first in Jordan.

UJ was occupying the 98th place internationally in the ranking’s 2015 edition, 103rd place in the 2014 edition, and 279th place in the 2013 edition.

UI GreenMetric World University Ranking was established in 2010 by Universitas Indonesia (UI) in order to promote awareness in institutions of higher education of the value of putting in place policies and systems that will have a positive impact on global warming and climate change.

The ranking criteria include the size of the university and its location — urban, suburban or rural — as well as the degree of green spaces on campus.  The ranking also evaluates electricity consumption, transport, water usage and waste management, in addition to the administration’s dealing with the issue of sustainability through policies, actions and communication.
