A Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation was signed on Sunday between the University of Jordan (UJ) represented by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (int@j).

 

The MoU was signed by UJ President Prof. Azmi Mahafzah and int@j Chairman Dr. Bashar Hawamdeh, in presence of UJ Vice President for Centers and Community Service Affairs Prof. Musa Al Lozi.

 

Through the MoU, int@j will provide facilities to help innovative students at the University develop their ideas and entrepreneurial projects and transform them into viable businesses.

 

Before the signing ceremony, Mahafzah emphasized the importance of this MoU in consolidating partnership between sectors concerned with the development of entrepreneurship and innovation in Jordan.

 

Mahafzah said UJ pursues to have a major role in boosting youth entrepreneurship in Jordan.

 

In turn, Hawamdeh expressed his pleasure with this partnership, stressing the importance of reforming university curricula in line with requirements of the labor market and in support of innovation and leadership.

 

Dean of King Abdullah II School for Information Technology, Bassam Hammo said the School actively seeks to develop its approaches and curricula to meet the demands of the current century, commending the role played by int@j in the development of entrepreneurship in the ICT sector.

 

Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Dr. Ashraf Bani Mohamed announced that the first result of the MoU will be the organization of the Entrepreneurship Competition and Exhibition for ICT projects next May.

 

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Sulaiman Al Farajat Director of UJ's Media and Public Relations Department, Int@j CEO Eng. Nidal Bitar, Director of A Thousand Pioneers project, Mr. Iyad Al-Ashram.
