The Hamdi Mango Center for Scientific Research (HMCSR) at the University of Jordan (UJ) announced the winners of the 2016 Ali Mango Award for Distinguished Researcher and Samia Mango Award for Distinguished Women Researcher.

 

This came during the inaugurating ceremony of the HMCSR 7th Scientific Day at the Center.

 

As for Ali Mango Award, UJ's Professor of Computer Engineering Khaled Darabkeh won the Basic Sciences and Information Technology category, whereas Dr. Malek Alzihlif of the School of Medicine took home the award in the Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry and Rehabilitation Sciences category.
 
The Graduate Students category of the award was given to Dr. Ahmad H. Rayan, a PhD student at UJ's School of Nursing.

 

Referring to the Samia Mango Award, which is dedicated to recognizing and encouraging distinguished female researchers in the fields of basic and health sciences, the award went to Iman Al Bahsiti of the Applied Science University's Faculty of Pharmacy.

 

At the inauguration of the scientific day, titled "Local Trends in Pharmaceutical Technology", HMCSR Director Dr. Yasser Al-Bastanji delivered a speech in which he affirmed the importance of scientific research as the cornerstone of development and growth, stressing HMCSR's contribution towards a positive research culture.

 

Activities featured during the event included lectures, student contests, and an exhibition showcased products and services of major pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturing firms.
