School of Nursing Obtains ACEN Accreditation
The School of Nursing at the University of Jordan (UJ) has been granted the accreditation certificate of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) for achieving quality and excellence in nursing education.
 
Commenting on the achievement, UJ President Prof. Azmi Mahafzah said "International accreditation will open the doors for the school's graduates on the international level", adding that it will facilitate their enrollment in corresponding global programs around the world.
 
He also said that accreditation will contribute to facilitating the exchange of teaching experience with institutions that have obtained the same accreditation, commending the efforts of the School's academic and administrative staff members for the successful implementation of all accreditation requirements.
 
According to the School of Nursing Dean Dr. Manar Nabolsi the achievement confirms that the School is committed to International standards and criteria of quality nursing education, and aims to ensure a high quality of program graduates who are capable of providing quality nursing care and community service.
 
An evaluation team from the Accreditation Council for Nursing Education (ACEN), March 28, 2017, made a 3-day onsite visit to the UJ. The team conducted an initial accreditation review of programs offered by the School.
 
The team gave very positive reviews after onsite tours to the School, Main Library and the Admission and Registration Unit, as well as interviewing students and faculty, and attending lectures.
 
The ACEN is the entity that is responsible for the specialized accreditation of nursing education programs, both postsecondary and higher degree which offers a certificate, a diploma, or a recognized professional degree.

UJSoN was established in 1972. It comprises three department; Clinical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, and Maternal and Child Health Nursing departments, and offers both graduate and undergraduate degrees in Nursing.
 
The School's pursuit of international accreditation comes as part of its effort to accommodate the best education experience and highest standards of academic conduct.
