Honorary Doctorate to Central Bank Governor Zaid Fareez

The University of Jordan (UJ) on Thursday awarded an honorary doctorate in economics to the Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, Dr. Ziad Fareez, in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the fields of economy and finance.


 
UJ President, Prof. Azmi Mahafzah, said the award decision stems from UJ's vision in interacting with the international community, and acknowledges Fareez as a leading economic figure who spent over 50 years in public service.

 

The University of Jordan Board of Trustees approved awarding Fareez a doctorate of economics for decades of service that have contributed to the financial and monetary stability of Jordan and to the development of significant monetary laws and policies.

 

In his acceptance speech upon receiving the honorary degree, Fareez thanked UJ and gratefully commended its achievements and aim to develop a distinctive educational experience.
