UJ Students' Union Holds Palestinian Cultural Week
The University of Jordan (UJ) President Prof. Abdul Karim al-Qudah said that the Palestinian cause remains the first Arab issue despite all the current crises in the Arab world.

He added during the opening of the Palestine Cultural Week held by the Students' Union that UJ will continue to support Palestinian students and scholars through the Palestinian Student Support Fund, which was established in 1994.

Al-Qudah referred to the Centre for Jerusalem Studies which was established in 2009 in partnership with the Palestine International Institute.

Highlighting the role of education as tool to raise awareness about the Palestinian issues, President Al-Qudah stated that students at UJ are given a compulsory course on Jerusalem.

The course introduces students to the history of Palestine in general and Jerusalem in particular, he said.

Speaking about UJ's history in supporting Jerusalem students, Al-Qudah specified that the University offers a JD10,000 award every two years to the best PhD thesis written on Jerusalem.

The week includes a photo exhibit, craft exhibit, music concerts and Palestinian Dabke performances.
