International Conference of the School of Sharia Kicks-off
The First International Conference of the School of Sharia kicked off at the University of Jordan (UJ) on Thursday under the title: "Updates of Islamic Sciences".
 
The event seeks to address the most important contemporary issues in the Sharia (Islamic law) to provide a real contribution to the solution of contemporary problems.
 
Dean of the School of Sharia, Prof. Adnan Al Assaf said the conference is organized for the first time in terms of topics and titles addressed. He said the event constitutes an umbrella for the various disciplines of Sharia and Islamic studies.
 
According to him, the two-day conference will feature 16 sessions, and 60 papers on a wide range of topic, in Arabic and English.
 
The conference gathered academics and scholars from Morocco, Libya, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Syria, Algeria, UAE, Turkey, UK, Australia and Jordan.
 
The specific topics addressed are related to the role of Islam in combating atheism and extremism, Islam in the contemporary world, Quranic studies in the light of modern sciences, emerging issues in Islamic banking & finance, and modern technologies in the service of the Prophetic Sunnah.
 
The discussion will also include contemporary developments in Sharia law, social responsibility of Islamic banks, Islamic microfinance and its impact on economic development.
