UJ Honors Fulbright Commission Executive Director Alain McNamara

UJ News - A farewell ceremony was held at the University of Jordan (UJ) On Monday to honor the Executive Director of Fulbright Commission in Jordan Alain McNamara for a lifetime in the service of higher education collaboration between Jordan and the US.


"Our joint efforts have contributed noticeably to cultural understanding and to the strengthening of relations between Jordan and the United States," UJ President Prof. Abdul Karim Al Qudah said in his remarks at the ceremony.


Al Qudah emphasized the exemplary role McNamara played in boosting and sustaining mutual cooperation, before and after the creation of the Binational Fulbright Commission in 1993.


In turn, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. embassy in Amman, Mike Hankey, commended the role of Fulbright Program in strengthening the level of ties between Jordan and the US. He also presented a brief of the Fulbright legacy, applauding McNamara's "over two decades" leadership of the Commission.


From his part, McNamara expressed his gratitude and appreciation for UJ on the honoring and the long-lasting partnership with the commission, highlighting the respect and appreciation for Jordanian students and scholars in the US campuses for their study discipline and work ethics.

 

The ceremony was attended by UJ vice presidents and guests from the US Embassy and the Fulbright Commission Board.
