UJ, Romanian Embassy Discuss Cooperation

The University of Jordan (UJ) President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, on Tuesday, discussed with the Romanian Ambassador to the Kingdom George Cristian Maior, aspects of academic and cultural cooperation and ways to enhance them.

The meeting tackled ways to build effective partnerships between UJ and Romanian higher education institutions, such as Babes-Bolyai University and Bucharest University which offer Arabic language program.


During the meeting, Obeidat commended the strong ties between the two friendly countries in the field of higher education, especially in the fields of medicine and health care, pointing to UJ's endeavor to establish new public health programs.


For his part, Maior commended UJ's distinguished academic reputation, stressing his country's desire to enhance cooperation with the university in the fields of student and researcher exchanges and teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, extending his invitation to the president to visit Romania.


Vice President for International Affairs, Quality and Accreditation, Director of The Center for Strategic Studies, Prof. Zaid Eyadat, emphasized the importance of student, researchers and faculty members exchange programs, and keenness to increase the number of Romanian students at UJ, calling on the ambassador to visit the Center for Strategic Studies to discuss political developments.


International Affairs Unit (IAU) Director, Dr. Hadeel Yaseen, stated that UJ has agreements with 4 Romanian universities within the Erasmus + academic mobility program, in addition to MoUs with Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu and the Romanian American University in Bucharest.
