In a first of a kind initiative by an academic institution in the country, UJ has launched a new center to combat terrorism and extremism intellectually and scientifically.

The hub, named “Red Sea Center for Fighting Terrorism and Extremism Studies”, is based in UJ’s branch in Aqaba (UJ Aqaba).

“The Center aims at activating the role of UJ as an educational institution in spreading awareness and scientific understanding of the terrorism phenomenon, and in developing means and frameworks to prevent and eradicate terrorism in the society,” said Prof. Musa Al Lozi, President of UJ Aqaba.

“We hope it will become an information hub in the fight against terrorism and extremism”, Al Lozi added.

The Center will launch initiatives to encourage regional, Arab, Islamic, and international cooperation in fighting terrorism and extremism.

Promoting preventive strategies, fighting terrorism on national and regional levels, encouraging dialogue and understanding, and enhancing the values of moderation and tolerance are the strategic priorities of the Center.
