Workshop on Media and Information Education Begins at UJ

On Sunday, a training workshop on media and information education launched at the University of Jordan (UJ) with the participation of a number of faculty members.


The four-day workshop is organized by the Media, Public Relations and Radio Unit in cooperation with Jordan Media Institute (JMI).


Fifteen faculty members from several schools at the university are attending the event which taking place at UJ Library.
The workshop comes within the framework of the national initiative to spread media and information education for 2020-2023 implemented by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the ministries of: Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Youth, and civil society institutions.


On the first day of the workshop, former Minister of Culture and Professor of Media Studies Bassem Tweissi indicated that media and informational education has become a necessity in this century, pointing out that Jordan is the only Arab country that has officially adopted the dissemination of concepts of Media and informational literacy and its inclusion in school curricula.


In addition, the workshop aims to build the capacities of a group of faculty members in higher education institutions in media and information education, and to establish a unified curriculum within the university requirements including the media and information literacy courses that were developed within the national plan.
