The University of Jordan (UJ) Vice President for Humanities Schools, Professor Ahmad Majdoubeh, met in his office on Wednesday with the Head of the Foundation of Islam of France, Dr. Ghaleb Bencheikh, French poet and writer Louiza Nadour and a delegation from the French Embassy in Amman.
The two sides discussed aspects of cooperation in the framework of inter religious and inter cultural dialogue, as well as ways of promoting cooperation with the School of foreign Languages, particularly the French Department.
Majdoubeh confirmed UJ's support for cooperation with the Foundation, welcoming the development of a joint memorandum of understanding between the two parties, in which students and faculty members' exchanges, and other cooperation concepts can be framed.
Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Professor Nahed Amaish stated that the French Department seeks to enrich the students' educational experience, with the intention to develop their linguistic skills, and deepen their expertise of French culture.
Bencheikh expressed keenness to cooperate with UJ, pointing out that the Foundation of Islam of France is concerned with supporting projects of a cultural, social and educational nature, especially in university research, and Islamic sciences.
The meeting was also attended by the Vice-Dean of the School of Sharia, Dr. Jamila Al Rifai.
