UJ, Khalifa International Award for Agricultural Innovation Discuss Cooperation

A delegation from Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, headed by the Award's Secretary-General, Dr. Abdul Wahab Zayed, visited the University of Jordan (UJ) on Sunday.
 
The visit aimed to examine prospects for cooperation between the two sides in agricultural research.
 
UJ president Prof. Nathir Obeidat met with the delegation. During the meeting, Obeidat commended the good relations between the two brotherly countries, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who attach great significance to joint Arab cooperation, particularly in concern to Food security.
 
After the meeting, the School of Agriculture held an introductory lecture for faculty members, researchers, and students about the award, as well as its activities, objectives, categories and conditions.
 
This Award has been established with a view of enhancing and encouraging agricultural innovation and research of date palm and the spread of this knowledge worldwide as well as the recognition and rewarding of those individuals and institutions that have contributed substantially to this field.
 
It also aims at contributing to the motivation of experts, researchers, scientists and farmers to innovate for development of the agricultural sector and thus contributing to providing the solutions and means to meet the world’s need of food.
 
The lecture was attended by UJ Vice President for Scientific Schools Affairs, Prof. Ashraf Abu Karaki, and the Dean of the School of Agriculture, Prof. Safwan Al-Shayyab.
