The Director of the Library Unit at the University of Jordan (UJ), Dr. Mujahid Thneibat, discussed with the Director of the United Nations Education Office (UNESCO) in Jordan Min Jong Kim possible ways to support the UN depository hall at the university library, and to strengthen cultural cooperation between the two parties.

During the meeting, which took place on Monday, the two sides examined scenarios related to the expansion of the depository hall by establishing an adjacent cultural corner.

Thneibat welcomed the idea of launching a competition for interior design students at the School of Arts and Design to design the cultural corner, with the support of the UNESCO office in Amman.

The corner is intended to highlight the efforts and tasks undertaken by the UN and its organizations, and provide students with information and electronic research resources and a place for holding seminars and cultural meetings to spread awareness about the organization.

It is noteworthy that the university library has been a depository for United Nations publications since 1970.
